This had me stumped for a bit as the file structure of Vivado has also changed and the old directory board preset files were manually installed to in previous versions no longer exists. However, with the Xilinx Board Store being on the newer side and that there are Xilinx-based development boards available from other vendors, there is still a need for manual installation of board preset files. You could instead install them in the create new project menu by simply clicking "download" from the boards selections. ![]() This was a handy addition as it meant that the board preset files for various common Xilinx, Digilent, Avnet, and Trenz Electronics boards no longer needed to be manually installed. As you might have noticed, starting in version 2021.1 the way board preset files are handled in Vivado is a bit different with the introduction of the Xilinx Board Store.
